In the book of Numbers, chapters 13 and 14, we find a powerful story about choosing faith over fear. Moses sent twelve spies to explore Canaan, the Promised Land, and after forty days, they returned with reports and samples of the land’s produce. The bounty was evident, as they carried a cluster of grapes so huge that it had to be carried on a branch between two men.
However, the majority of the spies came back with a negative report, seeing themselves as grasshoppers before the giants in the land. They focused on their own perceived abilities rather than the power and promise of God. In contrast, Caleb silenced the people before Moses and expressed confidence in their ability to conquer the land, saying, “We should go up by all means and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
The Israelites had already seen marvelous demonstrations of God’s power on their behalf, yet they allowed fear to overshadow their faith. It is a crisis of memory that we face every time we encounter a new challenge, obstacle, or diagnosis. We must remember the Lord our God, who brought us out of difficult situations in the past, because the same God who did it then will do it again.
When faced with a formidable task or a challenge which seem daunting, we must remember what God has already done in our lives. We can look back and testify of how God has brought us through challenging times, providing for our needs and leading us to freedom. The blessings of the Lord are such that He will give us long life and good health to enjoy the blessings He has given us.
No matter what we face, we can trust in the Lord. He is a way maker, and He will provide the provision and wherewithal to accomplish what He has called us to do in His name and by the power of His Holy Spirit. Today is the day to possess the promise, to walk into the future God has prepared for us. Let us not delay, but embrace faith over fear and trust in the Lord every day of our lives.

I remember. I know for myself what God has done for me.
Hallelujah! God is faithful to fulfill the promises in our lives.
