Christ Lives in Me

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

The Power of Christ Within Us

“Christ lives in me.” Take a moment to let this resonate in your heart. The Spirit of the living God, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, resides in us. This profound realization shapes how we see ourselves and how we operate in the world. Our life becomes an outward manifestation of the divine Word, giving us the confidence to live in a mindset of abundance.

The Pitfalls of External Validation

A recent article in The Atlantic by New York Times editorial writer David Brooks delves into the emotional turmoil experienced by retirees from lucrative careers. These individuals, once at the pinnacle of corporate America, academia, or the medical field, face identity crises as they transition into retirement. They had defined their worth by their achievements and material possessions, and when those external indicators faded, they felt lost.

Our Unshakable Identity in Christ

Unlike those who rely on worldly acclamation, we find our identity rooted in Christ. We might achieve great things, bear significant responsibilities, and even enjoy material blessings, but none of these determine our worth. Our value stems from being created in the image of God and loved by Him.

Living a Life of True Abundance

So, how does recognizing our identity in Christ transform our everyday lives? It changes how we approach our jobs, relationships, and even the challenges we face. We operate not out of a need to prove our worth, but from a place of knowing we are already invaluable in God’s eyes. This shift from scarcity to abundance impacts not only our emotional well-being but also how we interact with the world around us.

In the pursuit of an abundant life, it’s essential to focus on where our true value lies. And according to Galatians 2:20, that worth is found in our identity in Christ. It is by embracing this identity that we can genuinely experience an Abundance Mindset, understanding that our value is not determined by what we possess or achieve, but by Christ’s love and sacrifice for us.

So, we affirm, “I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me and the life I now live, I live by the grace of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and awe at the profound truth that Christ lives in us. We thank You for this priceless gift, one that redefines our identity and reshapes our perspective. Help us to internalize this, to remember that our value is not in material possessions or the world’s accolades, but in being Your children. In the name of Jesus, who loved us and gave Himself for us, we pray. Amen.
